RE: Global Warming

Global does not only include your hometown, it was a record 94° in El Cajon CA the other day that broke the old record of 85°. BTW El Cajon CA is the hometown of NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson. In western Austrailia they have 100°+ forecast for all next week.
It is summer in Austrailia. According to the history on the weather link. that is normal for them. As for Calif. The warm snap is comming to an end. Enjoy it. I'd like a warm snap.
------------------------------------------------------------------
And yes. It is now called Climate Change, Cause Global Warming don't fit. And Climate Change is a great "catch all" phrase. Every thing that happens. they can say, Yep, Climate Change.
Even the United Nations, Now says it isn't true, and the planet has not warmed in the last how many ever years. That must be so. Cause I saw it on CNN last night.
But it's cold in the South. The worst cold I remember here was in the late 70s, early 80s, at Christmas. I remember driving the 77 T-Bird into the Carport, and hearing the ice slosh back and forth in the gas tank. We will see if it is that cold in Dec again.
I was in Alaska for two years and never had my gas freeze inside my fuel tank . I camped at Whiteface Mtn KOA in NY state Feb. 18, 1979 when it set a record cold temp of 52 below and did not have my gas freeze in the fuel tank of my Blazer Chalet 4x4 camper. BTW unleaded gas freezes around -150F .
I'm thinkin. It had a little water on top. What you think? Hasn't happened since.

RE: 09 F-150 sway control

But then. Maybe the Ford driver kept the wheel straight, Because he could. Maybe one or two of the other's didn't, Because they couldn't. Often times when the back end jumps out. You have to chase it. Or you could just wreck.
Did read the disclamer at the begining. That the drivers were independant, and That all other manufacturer's were invited to come do their own test. Haven't seen any takers.
And you guys doubt Mike's word:E:E
Then there is that independant half ton shoot out report. A week or so ago. That Ford won as well.

RE: Global Warming

Don't know about y'all. But right now, in record cold. I kind of wish it was true. BRRRRRRRRR!
There are ominous signs that
If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder by the year 2000. ...This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age. – Kenneth E.F. Watt on air pollution and global cooling, Earth Day (1970)
They just missed it by a few years.
seems they missed it altogether.

RE: Zoning finally caught up with us!

It's hard to beat City Hall. They have the financial and legal might to do just about what they want to. You need to comply with their code enforcement & zoning.
I'd refrain from calling them cowards. That is slanderous, and you could legally get your brains beat in, and your assets taken for making false statements.
I'd quietly leave town, and let it go, if I were you.
Not slander if it's true, and the proof is in the fact. They didn't knock on the door.

RE: 09 F-150 sway control

Just so everyone knows the Dodge trailer sway control works the same as the Fords, not the way they explained it!
And anyone can make anyone of those trucks look better than the other. so while I`m a Ford and a Dodge guy, the video is just a little biased! entertaining, but biased!
So you are saying. The driver jerked the other trucks around, and held the Ford still? It's possible, after all it was a Ford deal.
But still. After watching the trucks on the torture track, and the way some of the others bent, bounced, and flexed. I'm glad there is a Ford in my driveway. Even a older Ford.

If you would read the drilling bill passed this fall. You will see that, It is not a drilling bill, but a anti drilling bill. It was only called a drilling bill so they could say. LOOK we are doing something, and did y'all notice. It did not clear the senate

RE: Future without trucks

I think they could file bankruptcy, get rid of the unions, lower their costs and sell them at a more reasonable price. I'm sure there are some details here and there, but I imagine that is what is happening. They either need bailed out or for free the NLRB will let them dump the UAW agreements.
At least that's what I'm hoping although I'll never get rid of my 7.3 PSD.
So, How much less money is a full dressed Tundra opposed to a full dressed F150? Or a Camery opposed to a Taraus, Fusion, or Impala. From what I have seen. Not a lot.
The unions are not, and have not been the problem. It is poor management pure and simple. The UAW did not design, or choose the vehicles they made. all that was a management decision, and a poor, and wrong management decision. A company cannot continue to build cars no one wants.
What is needed, is to get rid of upper management, ALL upper management. Let the employees, Who know more about what is really happening. Know more about automobiles, Know more about how they are made, and what people want. Run the companies. and make the decisions.
Management knows nothing about what people want, after all. Folks making 21,000,000 doillars a year. Have a whole different idea of transportation than someone making $35,000

I guess all the trucks I have ever owned were useless? But I managed to never get stuck on wet grass.

RE: Is 4 wheel drive overkill?

Been camping for nearly 30 years. Have never needed 4x4. Had it in 2 TVs, never needed it. We camp in sandy nonpaved CGs at the beach, and nonpaved CGs in the mountains. I park my TT on a incline on grass. I have NEVER gotten stuck on wet grass. Never needed 4x4 to get the TT up the hill out of the yard.
If you want 4x4. It is worth it to you. If you don't want it. It is not, It is not IMOP needed for towing, and you can't use it on a dry paved road, or hard dirt road, anyway.
It is purely a personal choice.

RE: North Carolina Ski Resorts

'North Carolina ski resorts', Now THERE are four words you don't see lined up together very often!
Cause you don't live near here. We hear it all winter. The local news daily reports the status, and snow base of the resorts.

RE: should i be concerned??

I would worry more about the faucet seals, and o rings than I would about the lines and tanks. There is plenty of room in the tanks for 10 gal, and 2 gal to expand as it freezes. But the minuscule amount in the faucet seals would freeze much quicker. On the bright side. The worst that could happen, is you would need to replace the faucets, or if the water pump has been used. The pump. Don't think it will hurt the water lines.

RE: C rated tires - taken care of

LT tire rated at 2470lbs. Means they (all 4 together) will carry 9880lbs. What is the GVWR of your truck? Is it more than 9880lbs? If so you need more tire. If not you have enough tire. Always get enough tire to carry what the truck will carry. You only need enough for that. The tires don't have to carry the truck, and trailer, only the truck, what is in it, and the tongue weight, and if a 5er, The pin weight.

RE: New TV-Ford F150

I left that out. I did look at the manual and it does say around 9000lbs. But i thought since the sticker says 7200 that is what I had to go by. Totally new to all this. Ill look again tomorrow and get all the info. Thanks.
Blake
In truth. the door sticker has little to do with tow capacity, Except that it gives the axle ratio.
as mentioned. That 7200 is just what the truck can weigh by itself.
Go by the owner's manuel. All the info is in there.

RE: Where are all the posts?

Although fuel prices have dropped dramatically in most areas, camping season is also over in many regions. Many people have winterized and parked. It is Novemeber....
Agree. Just the diehards, and super bored. Not much happening to tell. You can tell it is winter. when people start posting obout how to use the crapper, as is happening on another post now. It will only get worse before spring.

RE: New TV-Ford F150

Find your manuel. You have much more than 7200lbs towing. More like 9000lbs. My 150 with 5.4, and 3.55s, has 8000lbs towing capacity.
I however don't know what a RPO sticker is.

RE: Bombs away or lay it down gently in the bowl.

I'll be headed out again this Friday and I'll give it a go on the bombs away method. I think it will take some practice to get the timing down right.
I wish they wouldn't make fun of Arkansas. After all, we have had indoor plumbing for five years now. When they advertise homes in the country they often (still) say, "Two bedrooms and a path".
I wish they wouldn't either. After all. Y'all did invent the toothbrush. But then again. If it had been invented in NC. It would have been a TEETH brush.
